Smokeless tobacco products that Australians and New Zealanders use are manufactured in the USA and Sweden. Sometimes called snuff or snus, they are either loose or pouched flavoured and unflavoured tobacco that is placed between the gum and lip where they rest until discarded.
The oldest American brand, Copenhagen dates back to 1822, which is the same year the Swedes began manufacturing snus that became the Ettan brand.

I am 65 years old and I have been using Skoal snuff (USA) for the last 25 years. I have suffered no ill effects and found it the only way I could successfully quit smoking.
Where does this government get off dictating to me what I should and shouldn't do when it comes to my health. Now I am reduced to chewing forms of smoking tobacco as I can't always afford snuff. Sweden took the initiative and utilised snus (similar to US snuff) as a harm reduction strategy to get people off smoking. They now have the lowers cancer rate for men in the developed world and it is all directly attributed to the use of snus. When is this government going to wake up.
